Mosaic International Summit - Doha2011 - Day 4

Just by having a look at the schedule you’ll feel how great this day will be, so after waking up and having our breakfast; we went to the conference room for our daily summary and reflection given by Alison.

After the summary, we started the second Leadership Session: “The Self Aware Leader; Perspectives and Understanding” in which Stuart shared with his experience and knowledge about the values of a self aware successful leader: aware, learns, enables, resilient, and honest. The session was so attracting and interactive and lasted for around three and a half hours including the coffee break. We learned a lot from this session.

Right after lunch, we left the hotel for the first time heading to a stunning area in Qatar; Katara Village in where the grace of the past meets the splendour of the future. Katara is a one-million-square meters area in which each and every culture in the world has a spot there to share its heritage, music, art, and even food with the visitors. Katara also has a stunning amphitheatre, breathtaking sea view, and lots of traditional scents. It really establishes itself as a cultural hub and a fertile ground for different cultures to meet and blossom.

In Katara’s Conference Hall we had our 3rd Leadership Session which was kind of an extension of the morning session with emphasis of the virtue of resilience in a leader. This session was given to us by Binna.

After the session and a prayers break, we gathered again for a panel discussion about Bringing Communities Together in which we had the opportunity to listen to three awesome people about their experiences in this field: Executive Director of INJAZ Qatar, Communication and Media Project Manager in British Council Doha, and Binna Kandola again on his controversial research about how every individual is a biast, and that we all have unconscious biases that have impact on the way we act or work! That really dragged lots of discussion that was interrupted -as usual!- by Alison asking us to proceed immediately to a group photo before it gets dark!

After the group photo we had some free time to have more personal photos and to tour Katara village, we went to all possible and open spots there, we saw astonishing cultural dances by locals, visited local art museum, went to the pearl museum, had some parathas (Pakistani bread), took photos by the sea, had sea tours by boats, and lots more!

To conclude this rich day, we were invited to have dinner at (Khan Farouq); a traditional restaurant in the Egyptian Corner in Katara where we had the opportunity to eat delicious traditional food and sweets from Egypt. After the dinner; we celebrated Vicky’s birthday and then we were visited by a traditional Egyptian band which played great cultural and traditional music for us and we interacted by singing and even dancing!..Moments we shall never forget.

Later that night we went back to the hotel for a warm shower and good sleep.
